Tradition

Tradition is such a wonderful, simple way to bring a family together. In my family my mom is the one that pretty much started most of our traditions from the little things like opening one gift on Christmas Eve to the Easter Bunny leaving jelly beans that lead to the room which our baskets are hidden. Thanksgiving is normally one of our favorites however my parents don't live here in Washington. We used to have the tradition of making a ham along with a turkey on Thanksgiving night, football was always on and we would sit around feeling sleepy after a huge meal with family. Another tradition we normally add in is the fact we grew up in Vermont so deer meat is usually in the meal somewhere. My dad will freeze it and it seems each year he gets a deer so come a special holiday he will get it out and we have that included with our meal.
I believe tradition adds to who we have become. It's an important part of who we are. I enjoy spending meals with my friends and thier families to see what thier special traditions are. I have a few traditions for things like Mardi Gra I would like to see how people celebrate. I would like to add in a few new ones for my children to pass down. :)
